Roku Streaming Players & Roku TV Devices Will Be Receiving An Update To Roku OS 7.5

Roku has just announced a new software update that is available now for select Roku streaming devices and all Roku TVs. The update brings with it two biggest features, although these are reserved solely for Roku TVs, which for now are only available in US.

The first biggest new feature of Roku OS 7.5 is Live TV Pause, and a feature coming to Roku TV models only. This enables you to pause and restart digital broadcast TV, with up to 90 minutes of the pause time supported – great news if you really need to make a full three course meal in the middle of your favourite show. To work this feature, you need an antenna connected to your Roku TV, and a USB flash drive along with 16GB or more storage capacity.

The other one is mobile private listening feature to all Roku TV models. Download latest version of the Roku mobile app to your iPhone or Smartphone and you can use your mobile to listen to your shows in private – just hook up a pair of headphones and you are good to go.

Roku OS 7.5 and the updated Roku mobile app for iOS and Android now allow multiple people to use the Play on Roku feature on a Roku device. Share and enjoy photos from the mobile devices on the big screen at the same time.

Also Roku OS 7.5 adds its screen mirroring feature to the Roku Premiere, Roku Ultra and Roku Premiere+. Wirelessly mirror compatible Android or Windows Mobile device’s screen onto the TV screen through screen mirroring.

You should see an update notice pop up on your TV when you turn your player on, once the update is made available. To complete, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install Roku OS 7.5. You can also check for the available updates in the settings menu of your Roku player or Roku TV.

The new update is available today and it’ll continue rolling out to Roku devices over the next few weeks.
