This being 7/11, Brian and I have officially been married 7 years. Traditional gifts for year 7 are copper and wool. The modern alternative is desk sets.
Desk sets?!? What I love about Brian is that he knows I will kick his ass if he ever gives me a desk set as an anniversary gift.
Usually, for our anniversary we choose one gift that we both give to each other— something we both want and will use together. We’re trying to decide if year 7 is going be the year of Center Arts season tickets (got to see John Cleese!), or home entertainment systems. I kind of wanted it to be the year of puppies, but Brian nixed that one. I think his actual words were “Hell No”.
It has already been the year of new closet doors which is much more exciting than it sounds. Now I can see all my shoes!
One thing we’re sure of though— this year is going to be a helluva lot less about desk sets than the last.
This is the section that contains all of my personal articles — sometimes sweet, sometimes bitter — it’s good to have a fire going and a cat purring in your lap when you read these.
I think Matto has said it best for me today:

Right. I realize that I haven’t blogged in over a year. I am working on remedying that, and have a bunch of half-finished projects to prove it. More on that …More »

Although I know Brian is pining away for a flat screen tv with an extendo-arm that allows the soft glow of tevo-licious entertainment to reach the far corners of your property (image of Brian in the hammock watching Reno 911 inserted here), you should go for the CA tix. We got a big fat check for our anniversary from a certain set of parents to sign up for such wonderfulness. You will be SO hating it when we get to see John Cleese and you don’t!

Awwwww…you could name the puppy “Copper”. I still vote for the puppy!

Well, we decided to heed Nat’s advice, and go for the tickets. Some of those shows are just too good to miss, and this will ensure that we don’t give in to our laziness never end up going. Really, I think it was that image of Reno 911 in the hammock that did it for me. We already have it from the hot tub—I need at least 1 corner of the yard where the juvenile humor can’t reach…
Oh, and goodwitch, I tried hard for the puppy, but I just couldn’t get Bri on the same page… I am determined to make it happen soon though!
