Bucket List: 3 Autos You MUST Experience Before You Die

Unless you happen to work in the life insurance, estate planning or funeral services fields, chances are that you’d rather not talking about the big D — a.k.a. death. Yes, we all know that it’s going to happen (though hopefully not for many, many years). But given that life is short and time is of the essence, it’s more enjoyable to focus on living life to its fullest.

To that happy end, here are 3 very different autos that should be on your “bucket list” — even if you only get to ride in them once. Trust me, it’s worth it.

  1. Ferrari Testarossa

If you have to ask how much a Ferrari Testarossa costs then, as the old saying goes, you can’t afford one. In fact, even a 1/12 scale model replica on eBay can sell for more than $500 — which is more than some (really bad but still functional) used cars.

The good news is that you don’t have to take out another mortgage or cash in your retirement savings. You can rent a Ferrari Testarossa over the weekend for about $2,000. Yes, that’s still pricey, but when you slide behind the wheel, turn the ignition and feel the roar of all 12 glorious cylinders, you’ll know why there is — and can only be — one Ferrari Testarossa. Ever.

  1. Jeep Wrangler

Yes, going from a Ferrari Testarossa (which sells from around $150,000 to over $500,000) to a Jeep Wrangler (which sells for around $25,000) might seem, well, absurd. But we thought it would be only fair to put something on this list that is affordable and easy to find. Plus, whether you’re a Jeep fan or not, credit must be given to the classic Wrangler for kickstarting the off-road trend. Go ahead and take one out for a spin. Maybe you’ll understand why Jeep fans are fiercely loyal.

  1. Party Bus

Buying a party bus probably isn’t a good idea, unless you happen to have a few hundred thousand dollars lying around, and you also happen to run a party bus company. Since it’s safe to assume that neither of these are the case, then the advice here is what you’d expect: call a party bus company and rent something sleek and stylish for your next special occasion — or just if you want to experience some luxury and decadence with your friends. For about the cost of a stretch limo, you’ll enjoy what is essentially a club-on-wheels, complete with sound system, lights, bar, TVs, wi-fi, and the list goes on.

Even better, you don’t really need to have a destination in mind. You can just have the professional party bus driver cruise around. There’s nothing quite like watching the sunrise from the comfort of a party bus, with (yet another) martini or mojito in hand. Good times.

The Bottom Line

Whether we meet the expected lifespan for our demographic category (how’s that for morbid?) or we exceed it, the bottom line is that life is short; especially as one gets older, and the months and years seem to fly by (remember when waiting for a single school day to end seemed to take forever?).

The point is that, within reason and without harming ourselves or others, we sometimes need to dial-up the fun and excitement — while we still can. Experiencing the autos above before you kick the proverbial bucket will put a smile on your face, and create amazing memories that, indeed, will last for the rest of your life.
