Upcoming Video Game Remakes to Get Excited For

People love nostalgia. It lets them relive happy feelings of the past and experience a time when things were simpler. This might happen at your place of work—whether you work at a medical center like ThriveMD or even a local school—it could happen at the park, or it might even happen in your very own home.

For gamers, in particular, they’ll soon get to experience a great bit of nostalgia when some of their favorite games of the past get modern remakes. While remasters are fairly common, remakes are a different beast entirely, as it requires much of the game to be reworked from the ground up, and with some of the most well-known titles in the industry getting upcoming remakes, it’s got more than a few of us a little excited.

Here are a few upcoming video game remakes to get excited for.

Resident Evil 4

As a survival horror third-person shooter, Resident Evil 4 quickly became a classic fan-favorite within the series due to its innovative mechanics, fear factor, the story, and switching from the traditional fixed camera of the previous games. Releasing on the Gamecube and Playstation 2 back in 2005, it has since been released on virtually every console as a remaster. Now, with the first three titles in the series having recent remakes, it’s finally the fourth installment’s turn.

The game is expected to release sometime next year, and fans are clamoring to see more of protagonist Leon S. Kennedy’s zombie-slaying self as soon as possible.

Dead Space

It’s been several years since the third and final installment in the Dead Space series (2013, to be exact), but fans of the original game will be happy to hear that they’ll be getting a full remake of the first game within the next year.

It will truly be nostalgic to take control of space engineer Isaac Clark once again as we make our way through a ship infested with horrid and diabolical creatures from beyond, but as long as we’ve got our trusty plasma cutter and a save point or two, we’re more than happy to take the plunge once again.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

When KOTOR was first released in 2003, it revolutionized the gaming industry with its captivating storytelling and immersive gameplay. And while the game is still beloved by Star Wars fans and gamers alike, it is more than a little dated.

With a remake in the works, players will be able to experience the classic game in all its glory with updated graphics, mechanics, and a few added features to boot. It was one of the most beloved RPGs then, and it’s sure to gain more than a little traction when the remake comes out as well.

Nostalgia Revisited

These are among the most popular remakes currently in development that fans are excited to get their hands on, and with a little patience, they just might make it. Whether it’s a horror game that sends chills down your spine, a sci-fi RPG that lets you explore several worlds or anything in between, next year is sure looking like a good time to be a gamer.
